ABOUT THIS ROLE
Our Client’s ROW content team focuses on acquiring rights for production and distribution of premium audio content across new territories (Rest of the World), where the client is still not available. In this role you’ll support the prospecting, negotiation, and closing of a high volume of new deals for audio original, podcast, and book-based audio content with prospective partners, including authors, writers, content creators, literary agents, publishers, and recognized IP brands, at terms that benefit their customers. You’ll have responsibility for managing acquired content, ensuring successful post-signing go to market planning across the relevant teams at our client, and contributing to define strategic development affecting overall growth and success.
As a Manager, ROW Content Program, you will . . .
- Evaluate audio content rights availability and publishing market dynamics to define future priority territories for investment consideration.
- Research and identify potential content partners in priority territories and languages.
- Support content acquisition efforts in priority international territories, including partner relationship management, deal negotiation and implementation.
- Develop, grow, and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential content partners, including authors, writers, content creators, agents, publishers, and IP brands.
- Support management, prioritization, and execution of high volume deal flow, structuring, negotiating, and executing deals that support the client’s content strategy and initiatives.
- Identify and prepare projects for internal support and valuation by presenting data, preparing budgets, P&Ls, and drafting proposed deal terms.
- Build relationships and represent the ROW content team to various internal stakeholders including Editorial/Creative, Finance, BI, Marketing, PR, Content Services, Content Partnerships, and Content Creation teams.
- Track and communicate deal terms within the organization and provide for first line of enforcement of deal terms if necessary.
- Coordinate closely with members of the content teams to maintain consistency in messaging and policy.
- Draft well-written and data-backed concise documents.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5-7 years’ experience and proven success in a book publishing, content, media rights, business development, sales or within a digital media department/company
- Resourceful self-starter with an independent attitude and focus on excellence
- Strong organizational, analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills -- ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas in a simple manner across different levels of an organization
- Ability to operate in a high-energy, high-intensity and rapidly evolving environment
- Ability to work with cross functional teams under aggressive deadlines
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in and understanding of both the digital and traditional media spaces.
- Strong deal-making, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Significant experience working with external partners.
- Previous experience in the audio space, acquiring or selling audio rights.
- International experience
- Passionate about storytelling, the evolution of audio, theater, music, books, and consuming audio content.
- Experience using Salesforce, Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau and enterprise Project Management tools.
